The Connecticut Lightning girls lacrosse program will be conducting open tryouts for girls in the graduating classes of 2016 (girls entering the 7th grade in September) through 2011 on Sunday, March 7, 2010 in Newtown.

The Connecticut Lightning teams were formed in 2006 as the girls division of Progression Lacrosse. In just three years, under the direction of Coach Tracy Wiener-Provenz, the program has become Connecticut's premier girl's lacrosse program. This summer, competing against some of the top teams in the country, our 2010 team won the National Draw tournament, went 8 and 1 at the "All Star Express" tournament, and was very successful at other tournaments, beating many well known, long established teams from throughout the region.

Perhaps more important than our success on the playing field is our success in helping our players achieve their educational goals. This year we have players moving on to colleges and universities such as Brown, Maryland, Fairfield, Villanova, Assumption,New Hampshire, Iona, Holy Cross, Bryant, and Central Connecticut to name a few.

While we have openings for girls in all of the age groups we are especially interested in girls in the 2016-2014 graduating classes. These girls will have a minimum of eight team practices and they will participate in three tournaments, "Rumble in Trumbull", "New England Youth" in Amherst, Mass. and the "Long Island Elite" tournament.
